Carrot Good for Health- Nutrition Facts and Health Benefits

Eat carrots so you don't need glasses. Carrot is a good source of minerals such as potassium and manganese. Carrots can be eaten in a variety of ways. The simplest way is raw as carrots are perfectly digestible without requiring cooking. It contains some amount of  zinc, sodium, copper, iron and calcium. It contains about 87% of water, rich in mineral salts and Vitamin (B, C, D, E.) Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A and potassium.

Alternatively they may be chopped and boiled, fried or steamed, and cooked in soups and stews, as well as baby and pet foods. Together with onion and celery, carrots are one of the primary vegetables used in a mirepoix to make various broths.

Health Benefits of Carrot

Vitamin A- Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted to vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A promotes good vision.

Immune function
- Carrots contain vitamin C, an antioxidant. This helps boost the immune system and prevent disease. Vitamin C can help reduce the severity of a cold.

Cancer: A variety of dietary carotenoids have been shown to have anti-cancer effects, due to their antioxidant power in reducing free radicals in the body.

Carbohydrates: Almost all of the calories in carrots come from carbohydrates, the main energy source for your body.

Potassium- An essential mineral, important for blood pressure control.

Vitamin K- Carrots are also an excellent source of vitamin K. 

Diabetes control- The antioxidants and phytochemicals in carrots may help regulate blood sugar.

Biotin- One of the B-vitamins, formerly known as vitamin H. It plays an important role in fat and protein metabolism

Vitamin B6: A group of related vitamins that are involved with the conversion of food into energy.
