Cold and cough is a viral infection of our nose and throat. It's very harmless. Many types of viruses can cause a common cold and cough. Mostly people recover within 7 to 10 days. Symptoms might last longer in people who smoke. If symptoms don't improve, then consult with your doctor.
Prevention
- Clean your hands thoroughly and often with soap and water.
- Sneeze and cough into tissues.
- Disinfect your stuff.
- Use your own glass or disposable cups when you or someone else is sick.
- Take care of yourself.
How is a cough/cold treated?
- Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Elevate your head with extra pillows when sleeping
- Avoid irritants, including smoke and dust.
- Use cough drops to soothe your throat.
- Gargle hot salt water regularly to remove mucus and soothe your throat.
- Add honey or ginger to hot tea to relieve your cough and clear your airway.
- Use decongestant sprays to unblock your nose and ease breathing.
